Moinhos
Vera Cruz
is a pioneer company located in the area denominated Zona da Mata
Mineira, State of Minas Gerais.
It was founded in 1953 by a group of businessmen from Juiz de Fora, State of Minas Gerais and it carries out activities
in the wheat and wheat derivatives industry.
The
first milling unit, in Juiz de Fora, started activities in 1958
with a daily production capacity of 180 tons and three silos for 3
thousand tons of grain, growing successively to reach its current
daily production capacity of 520 tons and silos for 20.000 tons of
grain.
In
1989, the modern Santa Luzia unit was built in the city of the same
name distant 25 kilometers from Belo Horizonte, State of Minas
Gerais. Currently
with a daily milling capacity of 480 tons and a grain storage
capacity of 30 thousand tons in concrete silos and 10 thousand
tons in metal silos.
The
Santa Luzia unit was the first one in Brazil to be completely
computer controlled. The
entire production process is automatically monitored, starting
with the silos going through to the packaging of wheat flour.
In
1996, the Technological Center at Moinhos Vera Cruz (MVCTECNO)
started its activities. The
new laboratory for research and testing for production of wheat
flour became better and more sophisticated.
Built with a modern laboratory for research and analysis of
raw material, the Technological Center also has an experimental
bakery for development of new products and qualification and
training of staff.
A
new product was launched on the market on the same year of the
inauguration of the Technological Center - Veramix, a special
line of pre-mixture for making bread, cakes and pastry.
